Excellent analysis, the times they are a-changing, the self empowerment of younger voters is a model for the nation, not necessarily transferable, a foundation to build upon. The real estate typhoons are seeing the handwringing and I suspect abandoning Bidenesque over the hill candidate.

Great to start the week with a Michael Lange essay. As someone who grew up in the western Rockaway peninsula, the reference to the gated community of Breezy Point brought back memories of high school when my friends, the Jewish and Black members of concert band, would drive up to the gates of Breezy Point, knowing that we were not welcome there.

Saying you plan to phase out "gifted and talented" programs from the public schools seems extremely boneheaded (politically) if you're trying to build on support in Asian immigrant neighborhoods.

Will be interested to see results in those neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens and whether there's a drop off in support for Mamdani from the primary results.

This is a nice piece on the evolution of New York politics and how the old order is slowly fading away . I think Mandami really needs to make sure that crime and homelessness don’t rise when he is in charge. Also I think that Sliwa is a surprisingly good republican and maybe will change his allegiance at some point.
